Background
CNP(2',3'-cyclic-nucleotide 3'-phosphodiesterase) belongs to the cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase family. It plays an essential role in axonal survival but not in myelin assembly, coupling oligodendroglial functions in axonal support and myelination. CNP is the third most abundant protein in central nervous system myelin.
